George VI (1936-1952), gold Proof Sovereign, 1937, edge plain. Obv. Bare head facing left. Rev. St. George and dragon, date in exergue. Die axis 12h (S.4076; EGC 1456; Marsh 296B). A couple of trivial hairlines and miniscule spots for completeness, otherwise an attractive coin, presented in choice gem condition, the portrait set in cameo against brilliant fields – despite not being stated a ‘UC’ on the slab, a desirable example of this popular type. Slabbed and graded by NGC as PF65.
