Gordian III (AD 238-244), silver Denarius, AD 240, Rome mint. Obv. Laureate, cuirassed and draped bust facing right. Rev. Diana Lucifera standing facing right, holding flaming torch 3.25g, die axis 12h (Sear 8673 (RCV III); RIC IV 127; RSC 69). Just a hint of cabinet friction to the highpoints, otherwise practically as struck, the metal lustrous and fresh with a pleasing portrait. Choice extremely fine.
