Harold I (1035-1040), silver Penny, 1038-1040, Thetford mint, moneyer Brunstan, Fleur-de-lis type, BMC V. Obv. Diademed and armoured bust facing left holding sceptre. Rev. Voided long cross, annulet at centre, lis and trefoil of pellets in each angle. 1.14g, die axis 2h (S.1165; North 803a). A nicely rounded coin of good metal, carefully struck with minimal weakness, choice. Extremely fine and much as struck, with no initial cross at the start of the reverse legend and as such, rare.
