Henry I (1100-1135), silver Penny, c.1121, London mint, moneyer Sperling, Star in Lozenge Fleury type, BMC 13. Obv. Crowned and draped bust facing left, holding sceptre. Rev. Fleur-tipped lozenge, voided trefoil of annulets surrounding in each quarter, star with seven points at centre. 1.27g, die axis 4h (S.1274; North 869; BMC 95 (same rev. die)). Weak in parts as is usual with this type, although an above average strike for this issue, a pleasing tone and delightful, handsome portrait, desirable thus. A bold good very fine and rare.
