Henry VII (1485-1509), silver Groat, London mint, facing bust, double-arched crown, type 2, no. 4, with jewels on outer arch only, saltire stops, unusual legend variant reading AGLI and with unusual tall, thin r., Class IIIc, m.m. Leopard’s Head/Leopard’s Head. Obv. Crowned bust facing within tressure. Rev. Long forked cross to edge of coin, 3 pellets in each central quarter within inner beaded circle. 3g, die axis 1h (S.2199 variant; North 1705(c)). A little short of flan, otherwise deeply toned to an even steely grey, the fields problem free, a desirable coin worthy of the finest Tudor Groat cabinet. A bold very fine and very rare variant.
