James I (1603-1625), silver Crown, 1624, third coinage (1619-1625), m.m. trefoil over lis (?)/trefoil. Obv. King crowned and wearing armour on horseback facing right, holding sword in right hand, reins in left. Rev. Plume over square-topped garnished shield of arms, within beaded inner circle. 29.70g, die axis 7h (S.2665; North 2121). Has been cleaned and tooled and a little double struck in places, however on a large full flan, toned with the reverse shield particularly bold and pleasing. Good fine, parts better.
