Victoria (1837-1901), silver Proof Crown, 1847, ‘Young Head’ coinage (1838-1887), edge UNDECIMO. Obv. Young ‘Gothic’ head facing left. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, garter star in centre, emblems in angles, date in legend in Roman numerals. 28.33g, die axis 6h (S.3883; Bull 2571). A few light hairlines and a small mark to neck, otherwise with a deep old cabinet tone of dark grey and purple hues, a pleasing example of this popular and in-demand type. Almost extremely fine.
