Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1862, ‘Young Head’ coinage (1838-1887), Tilted E over I (?) in REGINA, wide date, WW incuse on truncation, shield on reverse with repositioned legend, edge milled vertically. Obv. Second ‘large’ young head facing left, date below. Rev. Crowned shield of arms within wreath, emblems below. 7.98g, die axis 6h (S.3852D; Marsh 45 for type). A few lights contact marks and hairlines, otherwise lightly toned with underlying lustre. Rare variant. Slabbed and graded by NGC as MS62.
