William I (1066-1087), silver Penny, 1077-1080, Lincoln mint, moneyer Ulfr, Sword type, BMC VI. Obv. Crowned bust facing, holding sword over right shoulder. Rev. Short cross pattée over incurved sided quadrilateral, fleur in each quarter. 1.35g, die axis 6h (S.1255; North 846). Some minor porosity, otherwise a nicely rounded flan, lightly toned with a pleasing portrait of the King. Good very fine.
