William III (1694-1702), copper Farthing, 1697, first issue, edge plain. Obv. Laureate and cuirassed bust facing right. Rev. Britannia seated facing left, date in exergue. 4.54g, die axis 6h (S.3557; Peck 659). A light tone over problem free fields, some original colour apparent on both obverse and reverse, well struck for issue with just a small amount of weakness of the top of the king’s hair, a coin worthy of the finest Farthing cabinet. An exceptional survivor and seldom offered in this state, choice. Virtually as Struck and very rare in this condition. Formerly slabbed and graded by NGC as MS64 BN (now removed from slab) with accompanying slab ticket.
