William III (1694-1702), silver Sixpence, 1699, third coinage, plumes in angles, 4 strings, 6 billets, edge milled diagonally. Obv. Third laureate and draped bust facing right. Rev. Crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau in centre, plumes in angles, date split by English crown. 3.00g, die axis 6h (S.3546; Bull 1245). Some traces of blank filing and light haymarking to obverse, otherwise a nicely toned coin, the reverse fields in particular demonstrating hints of purple florescence with much underlying brilliance. Almost extremely fine and very rare, ESC rated R2.
