Iceni, Antedios, gold Stater, c. AD 10-30, Antedios Triple Moons. Obv. Abstract design of three crescents back to back enclosed within a border of six arcs and with groups of three and four pellets arranged within the arcs. Rev. Horse facing right with oval head, erect ears and dashes for his mane, large solar disc above, ANTEDI below in monogram. 5.39g, (ABC 1639; S.440). A highly desirable coin, centrally struck on a large flan in beautiful gold, now lightly toned, all the main features clear and sharp. An important and well documented coin, this example superior to both the Spink and ABC plate coins. Very rare, especially so in this condition.

An extremely important coin. One of only 17 examples known to exist for the type but the only example from reverse die 1 (16 known from reverse die 2) so unique. It is thus one of the most important coins in the entire Iceni series.
