Offa (757-796), silver Penny, Canterbury mint, moneyer Ethelnoth, heavy coinage. Obv. m / +offa / rex in three lines, the ‘o’ lozenge, the upper and lower parts in lunettes. Rev. eÞel / noÞ above and below a bone shape containing a row of pellets. 1.40g, die axis 6h (S.908; North 326; Chick 236d (this coin)). Full and round, struck on good quality silver. About extremely fine and very rare.
